DMCA Takedown Notice Requirements

If you believe that content on Steam infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice containing the following information:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized representative
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with sufficient detail to locate it
  4. Contact information including address, telephone number, and email
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized
  6. A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act

Counter-Notification Procedure

If you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification containing:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature
  2. Identification of the material and its location before removal
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake
  4. Your name, address, phone number, and consent to federal court jurisdiction
  5. A statement that you consent to service of process from the party who filed the original notice

Repeat Infringer Policy

Valve maintains a policy of terminating accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Accounts may be suspended or terminated after multiple verified infringement notices.

False Claims

Under the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability for damages. Do not make false claims.
